Personally, I do not like them. Why?? The water is actually pretty heavy. Unless you have a very strong water return, you will have to operate these little gadgets with power heads. Regular power head might not be strong enough to make them work properly which in this case, do not serve their purposes. If the power head is too strong, then I would worry about heat generation or the smaller fish been stocked by the intake.
This is what I do. I am using two powerful external pumps and point them to each other to create swirls or whirlpools where the water is constantly hitting against each other from both side. In this case, no spots are missing and the current continuously spurring outwards. This is what I do right now. What kind of pump?? Check here:

其實我是打算加在底缸的回水泵的出口 ( 回水是用 iwaki 40.rx ) 的，所以我想不會不夠力.....想買的因原是，現在養緊的舊缸打算改做全個只養 sps 所以我想有亂的水流會更好，當然你說的做法都是一個不錯的方法， 因為我然在都用緊差不多的方法，不過只是想會不會有更好的呢!....最初其實是想買這個的 http://www.sea-swirl.com/half.htm 不個後來搵到個更便宜的作用又差不多所以才改變主意.......。
