My circulation is like water flows to canister filter,
then flows to fuge => display tank,
maybe I can cut off the circulation between display tank & fuge,
isolate fuge and add NO3 ,
then monitor the values,
what do you think about this trick?
In this method, I can measure how much NO3 my DSB can absorb.

Because most people will ask about the depth & structure of sand bed, but won';t ask about dose it work.

just it grows a bit slow than I thought.

I think that can be done. As long as you are not messing with the display tank for this trial, you should be OK.
How thick is your DSB?
Currently, I am content with using sugar as a mean to lower my NO3. It worked quite well for my 100L softies tank. I';ve used DSB as well as Plenum before, but these 2 systems has their limitations that I end up scraping the systems.

Yes, it is very slow growth, but at least it won';t bleach out. What do you have in your display tank?

充水 3cm
厭氧 4cm , 沙子約 3~5 mm
最上層 8cm , 沙子約 1~3 mm,
在充水層仍然有很多生物在活動 -.-"
昨天看到從底沙裡面冒泡泡上來,
不知道是不是 N2.
Chaeto 是同事去屏東海生管的時候送的,
從只有幾條,養到現在三個禮拜已經是球狀了.
可惜我的藻缸太高, 光線強度不夠,
不然如果照 RC 上面的人一樣培養,
應該很快就可以降低NO3, PO4.
RC 上面有人把 chaeto 放在水桶內,
大賣場買的燈光直接架在水桶上,
兩三個禮拜就可以長滿.

特地培養給青蛙吃的 .

以經測試完成了,
我把藻缸跟主缸分離,
藻缸用no3 20 ppm 的水,
一個禮拜之後 no3 變成 5ppm.
比較難分辨的是,
到底是 DSB 還是 藻吸收了 NO3.
另外網路上看到兩篇很正的文章,
探討 DSB 沙粒大小、深度、以及充水層對水質的影響，
目前我看到最完整的實驗報告。
